FastPASS Contracts: A Streamlined Research Contracting Process
Speed up your research with UNSW FastPASS Contracts—a streamlined; pre-approved suite of agreements that significantly reduces the administration associated with Research contracting. With FastPASS, UNSW and industry partners have been executing research contracts and providing access to project funds in days, allowing researchers to start projects on timeframes that respond to their needs.
NEW TO FastPASS!
To further support engagement with your Industry Partners, FastPASS can now be utilised with different Intellectual Property (IP) options. If this applies to your research, please discuss and receive confirmation via email from I&I regarding your preferred IP clause prior to commencing the FastPASS form and attach I&I’s email approval to the form. Contact Industry & Innovation
If changes to the pre-approved terms are required (excluding IP), or if the payment terms are not favourable to UNSW, the agreement will be managed through the Negotiated Grants and Contracts or Bespoke Research Agreements stream (please note: zID and zPASS required to access this page).
To submit a FastPASS Contract to RGC, the Lead Chief Investigator (CI) or an alternate delegate should click on the required UNSW Legal Template above and complete the FastPASS form on the page.
How to use the new agreements
- Discuss the standard UNSW terms available in the nine (9) agreement templates available above with your Industry Partner. It is important to note that, while it’s now possible for IP terms to be negotiated, all other FastPASS clauses remain non-negotiable.
- If you and your Industry Partner would like to negotiate the IP clause, please contact Industry and Innovation (I&I) to discuss and agree details.
- Once you have an agreed IP clause, please complete a FastPASS form, remembering to attach:
✅ I&I approval email (including the agreed IP clause)
✅ Lead investigator’s approval email (if submitted by a delegate)
✅ Pricing Tool (if applicable)
✅ HoS approval (for MTA or DTA agreements).

It is required to obtain all necessary approvals and comply with all relevant UNSW policies and procedures.
